Yi-Roe obtained her BSc in Biomedical Sciences (First Class Honours), Nanyang Technological University in 2009. After spending another two years in Beijing, she graduated with Bachelor of Medicine (Chinese Medicine), Beijing University of Chinese Medicine in 2011.
Shortly after, she became a Singapore TCMPB registered TCM Practitioner. Since then, Yi-Roe has been actively involved in the TCM scene in Singapore. Besides practicing, she is also a member of NTU Chinese Medicine Alumni Association (CMAA) and a member of Singapore Thong Chai Academic Society.
With her diverse working experience from charity clinics (Singapore Thong Chai Medical Institution) to established organisations (Eu Yan Sang Integrative Health Pte Ltd), Yi-Roe has a rich understanding of the clinical profiles of TCM clients in Singapore. Having an advantage of being bilingual, she can connect to a wider population, truly understand their needs and educate them with appropriate TCM knowledge.
Through her daily work, she has interacted with clients of different nationalities, age groups and medical history.
Her daily duties include assessing clients' medical conditions and establishing a treatment plan that best addresses their concerns. This involves herbal medical prescription, acupuncture and cupping. In addition, Yi-Roe was also involved in the sharing of TCM knowledge with the public through newspaper articles and TCM journals covering topics such as “TCM Management of Fatigue”and “Treatment of Eczema using TCM”.
Yi-Roe's core skills include Acupuncture, Cupping, Moxibustion, Paediatric Massage and Infertility Treatment. Her areas of specialty are in Pain Management and Gynaecology, with recent extension to Paediatric and Gastroenterology. From her clinical experiences, she has seen tremendous improvement and recovery in clients’ pain conditions such as chronic knee
pain, lower backache, shoulder and neck stiffness and even spinal related pain issues.
Having a love for kids, Yi-Roe has also been exploring Gynaecology and Paediatric fields. Acupuncture and Moxibustion have proved to be very effective in treating infertility problems and menstrual disorders.
In recent years, Paediatric Massage has gained much popularity in Singapore. Yi-Roe believes that through regular short sessions of massage, kids will not only improve their medical conditions like indigestion, slow weight gain, respiratory problems etc, they can also boost their immunity and improve their overall wellness.
Being a food lover herself, Yi-Roe has been thinking of TCM solutions to Gastroenteric conditions such as gastritis, IBS and constipation.
Being an active sportswoman who enjoys playing various sports such as Basketball, Badminton and Tennis during her free time, Yi-Roe has developed a special interest in sports-related injuries too. From the most common ankle sprain to the more complicated knee, wrist and other bones, muscles and joints injuries, Yi-Roe has seen acupuncture work its wonders.
Her vision as a TCM Practitioner is to provide integrated care by working together with her Western counterparts, so as to achieve maximum client wellness and recovery. She hopes to achieve this by leveraging on her bilingual ability and her Biomedical Science knowledge.
